Google Launches New Core Update (Major Algorithm Update) – SEO & Engine News

6 months after the previous major update to its algorithm, Google launched the “May 2022 core update” on Wednesday. As usual, no website or specific relevance criterion is targeted, but rather a new version of the algo which aims to provide more relevant results and better fight against spam…

The Ascension Bridge was coming, we could imagine that Google was going to take advantage of it, as often, to launch an update of its algorithm: and it is indeed which was officially announced on Wednesday : the “May 2022 core update” was therefore launched on May 25, 2022 and will take one to two weeks to complete its implementation.

Here is what the Google post says about it and on this occasion, from the pen of Danny Sullivan: ” Core updates are changes we make to improve search in general and keep up with the changing nature of the web. Although nothing in a base update is specific to any particular site, these updates can produce noticeable changes in how sites rank. (…) We announce core updates because they generally produce noticeable effects on a large scale. Some sites may notice ranking drops or gains during these updates. We know those whose sites are experiencing drops will be looking for a solution, and we want to make sure they’re not trying to fix the wrong things. Also, there may be nothing to fix at all. (…) There is nothing wrong with pages performing less well during a core update. They have not violated our Webmaster Guidelines and have not been subject to manual or algorithmic action, as can happen to pages that violate these guidelines. In fact, there is nothing in a core update that targets specific pages or sites. Rather, the changes are intended to improve how our systems evaluate content as a whole. With these changes, some pages that were previously underrewarded may fare better. »

It should be noted that Google’s last core update dated November 18.
