Seniors’ of Distinction awards...

The provincial government recently honoured Julia Best of Placentia (originally from Red Island) with a Newfoundland and Labrador Senior of Distinction award, presented at a ceremony at The Rooms near the end of June. Ms. Best volunteered for a variety of seniors’ groups over the years and was a member of the National Advisory Council on Aging, where she advocated on a number of seniors’ issues. Ms. Best, 96, currently resides at Beachside Manor. Here, she stands beside the certificate she received.
