Placentia native Nicole Blanche will once again be participating in the National Women’s Under 18 Hockey Championship this year held in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
The National Women’s Championship takes place from Nov. 7-11. Blanche will be playing for Team Atlantic in the competition, the same team she played with last year when they competed in the Under-18 Championships in Saguenay, Quebec placing 4th in the eight-team competition.
The National Women’s Under-18 Championship brings together teams made up of the best female hockey players born in 1992 or later. The tournament serves as an important platform for Hockey Canada scouts, led by head scout of women’s national team programs Melody Davidson. Check the site for information on teams and results at http://www.hockeycanada.ca/nwu18c.
Blanche is one of three Newfoundlanders who made the Team Atlantic roster this year. Megan Normore from CBS and Abby Clarke from Springdale will compete with Blanche and Team Atlantic as they fight for the gold.
Blanche is currently a Grade 12 student in her second year at Warner Hockey School in Alberta (www.warnerhockeyschool.com) and participates in the Junior Women’s Hockey League (JWHL) as a Warner Warrior.
