Placentia’s own ladies Broomball team, the Newfie Bullets, attended their first provincial tournament in Bishop’s Falls on March 3-6. The team played a total of three games throughout the tournament; the first was played against the Western Sabres who defeated the Bullets 5-0.  The second game was played against Natuashish. Sherrilynn Whittle scored the only goal for the Bullets during the game that ended with a final score of 3-1. The last game was played against the Corner Brook team, April Yetman scored for the Bullets and the final score was 4-1.

Maggie Payne, the goaltender for the Newfie Bullets, was named the team M.V.P and Sherrilynn Whittle was named the Most Sportsmanlike Player for the entire tournament.

The weekend was a great experience for everyone, and the Newfie Bullets are looking forward to next year’s tournament. The team would like to thank everyone who supported them throughout the year with donations and fundraisers.

The Newfie Bullets practice Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. and always welcome new players.
