Placentia PeeWee Lions win gold

The Placentia PeeWees took the top honours, the gold, at a PeeWee "F" tournament played in Placentia last week.

The Placentia PeeWee team, the Lions, played host to the PeeWee "F" All Newfoundland and Labrador tournament from April 5-7.

The Placentia PeeWees took the top honours, the gold, at a PeeWee "F" tournament played in Placentia last week.

The Placentia PeeWee team, the Lions, played host to the PeeWee "F" All Newfoundland and Labrador tournament from April 5-7.

Teams involved in the tournament included the Conception Bay Region (CBR), Northeast Avalon, Bay Arena from Bay Roberts, Gander and Placentia.

Monday's games began with CBR taking on Gander, and losing 3-6. Placentia's first game was the second one played, this time against Northeast, which Placentia easily won with a 7-1 score. Bay Arena took on CBR in the third game with an 8-2 win.

After the opening ceremonies, held at 6 p.m. that evening, the final game of the night, between Gander and Placentia ended with a win for Placentia, 11-1.

April 6 games began with Bay Arena against Placentia, 3-5. Northeast then took on and won a game against Gander, 3-2. Placentia wiped the ice with CBR in the next game, ending up with a 14-5 win.

After the social, from 4-6, the final game that day between Northeast and Bay Arena ended in a score of 2-5.

April 7 game play began with CBR losing to Northeast 4-6 and Gander losing to Bay Arena 1-4.

The championship game, played between Placentia and Bay Arena ended in a 4-3 win for Placentia, earning the gold medal in the tournament.
