The Placentia Intertown Peewees claimed their third consecutive tournament championship, by winning the All-Newfoundland Peewee Boys Fast Pitch Softball title held at the Goulds on August 8 - 10. Placentia had a convincing 11-4 win over CBC in the final game, to run their record to a perfect 5-0 for the weekend. Colby Murphy pitched the win and added two hits, Gerard Dray had three hits including a triple.
The Peewees earned their trip to the championship game with a 10-3 win over Waterford Valley. Evan O'Keefe grabbed the win on the mound and Colby Murphy added three hits.
The round robin play began on Saturday for Placentia. They began their day with a wild 13-9 win over CBC. Scott Greene had two hits and Evan Pittman added a triple on way to a high scoring victory.
Placentia fell behind early in their next game against Waterford Valley, but roared back with 7 runs in the 6th inning to grad a 13-6 win. Evan O'Keefe picked up the win pitching a strong game. The offence was lead by Jason Murphy who collected three hits, and Nicole Blanche with a double.
Saturday's action saw the Pewees claim first place by downing the Goulds 6-3. Colby Murphy retired his last 9 batters in a row to grab the win on the mound.
This tournament capped of a successful season for this group, finishing with an 18 win, 1 loss record.
