Instructed in the Art

Near the end of their classes, students utilized the skills they learned to recreate a section of a painting of Placentia by Christopher Newhook, which would be pieced together for their art show at the Placentia Bay Cultural Arts Centre.

Hung for display at their school, this hour-long session taught students blending techniques. Students used glue and pastels to blend colours to create these colourful spiderwebs.

One art class student, Kaitlyn Winsor, said she really enjoyed the classes and couldn't wait to see all their work on display at the arts centre.

Instructor Christopher Newhook helped dish out the paint in the art class' final project, recreating a painting of Placentia.

Students involved in the Art Starters program included (in no particular order): Nathan Hynes, Kaitlyn Winsor, Arianne Maltais, Brooklyn McCarthy, Sarah Kerrivan, James Newhook, Kyle Tobin, Nicholas Greene, William Neville, Michael Leonard-Power, Taylor Hodges, Jamie-Lynn Conway, Brent Hatfield, Cassidy Barry, Lindsay Greene, Bailey Lannon, Andrew Kelly, Paul Bavis, Emilee Hickey, Emily Barnett, Gillian White, Maggie Follett, Catherine Hickey, Ali McGrath and Paige Palfrey.

Students admired their own handiwork and tried to identify their own pieces of the puzzle that was their final project, the re-creation of a piece of art of the town of Placentia by instructor Christopher Newhook.

Parents and grandparents, family and friends were proud and happy to search for the artwork created by their own.
