Artists in Newfoundland and Labrador are invited to submit work to the Arts and Letters Awards Program, the provincial government said today.

The annual competition celebrates works from artists of all disciplines who are living in the province. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 30.

“Over the past 60 years the Arts and Letters Awards Program has inspired the creativity of artists throughout the province,” said Derrick Dalley, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation.

“With a strong focus on supporting emerging talent, the program has awarded some of the province’s most renowned musicians, writers, and visual artists and has played a major role in the local artistic community.”

Prizes are distributed in two divisions, junior and senior, and in a number of categories including literary arts, visual arts, musical composition and digital multi-media. Total prize money for this year’s program is over $46,000 with 36 awards of $1,000 each to be awarded in the senior division, and 36 awards of $250 each in the junior division.
