Search and rescue was on the agenda in the province’s House of Assembly today.
The issue was raised during question period, and Labrador MHA Randy Edmunds introduced a private member’s motion on the issue.
Edmunds' motion called on the provincial and federal governments to review SAR protocols and consider stationing permanent SAR assets in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
The SAR issue was front and centre after the death of 14-year-old Burton Winters, from Makkovik, who died earlier this year.
"Ground search and rescue is a provincial responsibility and was the first point of contact in the Burton Winters tragedy," Edmunds said in his motion.
