The first Question Period since last May was held this afternoon and Liberal Leader Dwight Ball kicked it off with a question about the province's fiscal situation.

He asked why the province doesn't have a better fiscal management plan.

Premier Kathy Dunderdale responded that her government has paid down the debt and the Tories are "competent fiscal stewards."

The New Democrats chose to focus on fiscal issues as well.

Leader Lorraine Michael started off asking about potential government cuts and the Muskrat Falls project.

The Liberals also talked about the Muskrat Falls project and health care.

The current sitting of the legislature opened with the Throne Speech Monday.

Today was the first regular day of proceedings since the Oct. 11 provincial election.

The House last sat May 31, 2011.
