The Placentia Bantam Boys softball team showed its dominance during the week of July 12 – 16, 2010, at the Constable William Moss Memorial Softball tournament.

The Placentia Bantam Boys softball team showed its dominance during the week of July 12 – 16, 2010, at the Constable William Moss Memorial Softball tournament. The group of 15- and 16-year old ball players went undefeated for the week, and capped it off with a 7 – 0 win in the championship game of the tournament’s 30th anniversary.

Colby Murphy pitched a no-hitter against Waterford Valley in the final game, which was called after five innings. Devin Whelan went 3 for 3 and lead Placentia’s offence in a game that was scoreless until the third inning.

Evan O’Keefe tossed a 4 – 2 win in the semi – final game against Conception Bay Central. Scott Greene added a double and a triple to lead Placentia to the victory.

Members of the championship team were Gerard Dray, Devin Whelan, Colby Murphy, Evan Pittman, Brad Budden, Scott Greene, Evan O’Keefe, Tristan McGrath, Jason Murphy, Jordan Dray, Inni Mangat, and coaches Glenn Murphy, John Budden, and Gerard Dray.
