Environment Canada has issued blizzard warnings for tonight, March 6.

They are in effect for St. John’s and vicinity, Avalon Peninsula North, Avalon Peninsula Southeast, Avalon Peninsula Southwest and Burin Peninsula, as well as the Bay of Exploits and Green Bay-White bay.

Blizzard conditions will develop over southeastern Newfoundland Tuesday night with snowfall near 25 centimetres expected by Wednesday morning with strong northerly winds gusting up to 100 km/hour, resulting in blowing snow with near zero visibilities.

A winter storm watch is in effect for Clarenville and vicinity, Bonavista Peninsula and Connaigre.

Snow will begin Tuesday evening with strengthening northerly winds. Snowfall accumulations may exceed 10 centimetres by Wednesday morning.

Also Tuesday, Terra Nova, Gander and vicinity, Bonavista North, Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity, Buchans and the interior are expected to be hit with snow and blowing snow, reduced visibility and strong northerly winds gusting to between 60 and 80 kilometres per hour. The snow is expected to end by midnight with total accumulations between 20 and 30 centimetres.

Blowing snow warnings are issued for Tuesday for Port Saunders and The Straits and Northern Peninsula East.
