Food Bank Weight Challenge
Dec. 16 - The Placentia RCMP are once again issuing a challenge to community support organizations and individuals to participate in their Food Bank Weight Challenge at the Placentia Mall Dec. 16. Employees and individuals are asked to bring non-perishable food items to their work, or to the Placentia Mall outside the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, to throw in with their favourite community organization. The food will be weighed and divided by the number of employees to pick a winner, who will then have bragging rights for the year. For more information, contact Constable Todd Hussey at 227-2000.
Community garden still accepting compost
ON-GOING - The Placentia and Area Community Garden is now closed for the season but residents are still invited to drop off their compost in the Community Compost Box over the winter months. Please do not tie compost bags tightly as doing that does not allow air to move freely within.
Walking for your health
ON-GOING - Health walkers are invited to meet at the PARC Arena on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12-noon for a good healthy walk, at your own speed and as long as you wish. Bring a friend. All ages and gender are welcome. It is free, so do come by. You will be amazed on how good you will feel.
